About Britton Management Group

With almost 90 years of experience, the industrial and manufacturing equipment roots of Britton Management Group run deep. Originally established in 1924 as Art Britton Auction Sales, the company's reputation had grown allowing it to establish itself as an industry leader. By WWII, it was conducting sales for the US Military.

By the early 60's, the business had evolved into primarily industrial and commercial sales, a trend that continues today. The many years in the auction business have imparted many lessons: most important being the intricate workings of the sales process.

Britton Management Group continues to provide consulting and field services for our clients and other industrial auctioneers. With nearly a century of selling experience to reference, the team at Britton Management Group continues to create innovative ways to serve buyers and sellers alike.

About the Candle

Dating back to England in 1641 and becoming increasingly popular by the 18th century, "candle auctions" improved the auction experience by not allowing buyers to know the exact time of an auction's end. Instead, bidding would simply continue until the candle's flame burned out, thereby further ensuring the honesty of the auctioneer who would continue to call the bids until the precise moment darkness fell.

Given our company's rich history, it was decided to use the candle for our brand as a tribute to our roots as well as a way of expressing to our clients the integrity behind our namesake.

About President, Scott W. Britton

Scott W. Britton is a third generation auctioneer with over 30 years of experience selling machinery and equipment. Mr. Britton has worked the last 17 years designing, establishing, and managing corporate surplus asset transition programs that meet the unique requirements of the manufacturing environment. Mr. Britton is a cum laude graduate of Lindenwood University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Valuation Sciences (Machinery and Equipment appraisal degree) and currently holds an ASA designation with the American Society of Appraisers and a CSA designation with the Equipment Appraisers Association of North America. Mr. Britton also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Lindenwood University. In addition, Mr. Britton is a member of the National Auctioneer's Association and holds a CAI designation from the Certified Auctioneers Institute. He currently possesses 23 state auctioneer licenses and often participates in continuing industry education to maintain his auctioneering licenses and appraisal designations. Mr. Britton is a past Vice President of Industrial Markets with AssetNation, Inc. Prior to AssetNation, Mr. Britton was a co-founder and active member of Asset Auctions. Prior to Asset Auctions, Mr. Britton was the Executive Vice President of National Industrial Services, Inc. Mr. Britton has stayed connected and involved in his family's auction business since his youth and throughout his adult life.

About Director of Business Development, Lauren Kern

The fourth generation of the Britton family to enter the business, Ms. Britton was a Program Manager for AssetNation, where she had a close relationship with customers in the Insurance sector. Prior to her experience with AssetNation and joining Britton Management Group, she was in sales for Enterprise Car Rentals, holding a top sales position during her time there. Ms. Britton's background also includes Marketing Assistant for Monster Energy Drink and a General Manager for the Tan Company, where she also held a top sales position. Ms. Britton has proven herself a strong force in customer relations, sales and business. Lauren obtained a bachelor's degree in Interactive Digital Media with a minor in Marketing from Webster University in Saint Louis, Missouri.

About Project Manager, Gary W. Britton

Also entering the business from the fourth generation of the Britton family is Gary Britton. He has experience in international business from his studies in Europe at the American Business School in Paris, France and has traveled to nearly 20 countries. Having been brought up in an auction family his entire life, he has been exposed to live auctions and online sales. Gary brings youthful and innovative ideas to Britton Management Group, while also providing a straight-forward approach to business. Gary obtained his bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in International Business from Lindenwood University in Saint Louis, Missouri.

About President Emeritus, William K. Britton

William K. Britton is a second generation auctioneer who has grown up in the auction business. Mr. Britton was clerking auctions from the time he was 12 years old and began auctioneering shortly thereafter. Throughout his career, he has conducted notable industry and government auctions in a broad spectrum of selling environments. His experience in very diverse sales situations has proven invaluable to our team. With over 50 years of full time service in the auction industry, Mr. Britton's advice and input will continue to be a strong factor in the advancement of our profession as well as our company. Mr. Britton attended the University of Miami and Washington University in St. Louis majoring in Business. Prior to Britton Management Group, Mr. Britton was the acting President of Britton Auction Sales, Ltd.
